• Hong Kong March show is the second most important diamond & jewellery show that takes place in Hong Kong, right after the September show. The halls were packed with visitors and of course it was a sea of exhibitors starting from melee stones to extraordinary 50cts and above in rare colors and qualities. Jewellery show was similar in terms of exhibitors, there were jewelleres from all around the globe starting with semi-costume types to superb high-end brands and then rare vintage and antique pieces. • BaselWorld 2016 was my first Basel World experience and needless to say until last day I couldn’t digest the how magnificent the show was, from the brands display which were phenomenal to new reveals in watch industry, the world of high-end jewellery and finally the sea of loose stone dreams, everything about BaselWorld was magnificent. • Luxury By JCK 2016 fast forward to June and once again Las Vegas opened its doors to not one but 3 different annual shows, first stop was Luxury By JCK where the number of exhibitors were endless and if you could move fast enough through the hallways you would be able to get a glimpse of the phenomenal pieces that were up for display. I can’t emphasis enough that I needed at least 3 more days to be somewhat confident that I have seen at least 50% of the exhibitors by passing by their booth! after all it is the most important diamond and jewellery show in Northern America. • Couture Show 2016 is happening along side the JCK each year with a very important difference, Couture is more emphasizing on design and creativity in jewellery. High end brands displaying their newly launched collections in luxury villas in Wynn along with lavish booths with amazing set up and layout that is so welcoming to walk through and enjoy the finest pieces of high-end jewellery in luxurious location that they should be. My Couture experience was rather short but in that limited time I managed to view enough pieces to be convinced that next year I have to spend more time at Couture! All of these diamonds have been found in Africa and most of them in South Africa. The diamonds that are found elsewhere in the world aren’t as big as those in Africa, so this is where you should go if you want to try your luck finding a really big diamond 🙂

#10 De Beers Millennium Star Diamond a D colour, Internally & Externally Flawless Pear Shaped Diamond , cut to perfect proportions and weighing 203.04cts.

 

#9 The Red Cross Diamond a Canary Yellow Cushion Shaped Diamond weighing 205.07cts and the cutting style is known as Stellar Brilliant due to the eight needle-like facets on the pavilion of the stone, pointing outwards from its culet facet.

#8 The De Beers Diamond is a 234.65ct Light Yellow Octahedral Shaped Diamond which was found in 1888 in Kimberley, South Africa and in 1928 was set by Cartier in the Patiala Necklace once owned by Maharaja Patiala.

#7 The Jubilee Diamond was found in 1895 in South Africa and is a glorious Cushion Shaped Diamond, E Colour and VVS2 Clarity, weighing 245.35cts.

#6 The Centenary Diamond was found in 1986 in Premier Mine, South Africa. De Beers unveiled this beauty in 1988 as a D colour, Flawless and weighing 273.85cts. It is the second largest modern cut diamond in the world and carries 164 facets on the stone and 83 facets on the girdle.

#5 The Spirit of de Grisogono is a 312.24cts the largest Black Diamond in the world which was mined in West Central Africa before imported to Switzerland and being cut by Fawaz Gruosi the founder of de Grisogono using the traditional Mogul cutting technique.

#4 The Cullinan II is a D colour, Flawless 317.40ct Cushion cut diamond also known as the Lesser Star of Africa and is in the center-front of the Imperial State Crown of Great Britain.

#3 The Incomparable is a Triollette or Shield Shape Step Cut Fancy Brownish Yellow, Flawless Diamond weighing 407.48ct and was found in 1984 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Luxury Jeweler Mouawad has given this stunning diamond the majestic setting it deserves and has set it in to the most expensive necklace worth $55million and named L’Incomparable.

#2 The Cullinan I or The Star of Africa is a 530.20ct D Colour and Flawless Pear Shaped Diamond that is set in the Royal sceptre which is kept with other crown jewels in the Tower of London.

#1 The Golden Jubilee Diamond is a 545.67cts a Fiery Rose Cushion Cut Diamond (as described by Gabriel Tolkowski the master cutter and designer of the diamond) and is graded as Fancy Yellow Brown and is the largest faceted diamond in the world. It was purchased by a syndicate of Thai businessmen from De Beers and presented to the King Of Thailand in 1997 for his Golden Jubilee, the 50th anniversary of his coronation.
