Considered the “Super Bowl” of the jewelry industry, JCK continues to set the tone, the trends, and the mood for the jewelry industry for the year to come. 30,000 industry professionals from all facets of the jewelry industry joined JCK and Luxury for a week of product sourcing, education, and networking. The industry continued to gather under one roof with 17,300 attendees and over 1,900 exhibitors in over 20 different neighborhoods at The Venetian and The Venetian Expo as Luxury welcomed retailers from May 29 – June 3 and was open exclusively to invited retailers on May 29 and May 30 and JCK from May 31 – June 3, with the AGTA and GEMS pavilion, the Hong Kong pavilion and JCK Talks opening a day earlier on May 30.</p>

Luxury by JCK featured a carefully curated selection of exhibitors, ensuring that attendees had access to the finest and most unique pieces in the market. Brands showcased high-value gemstones, one-of-a-kind designs, and exceptional craftsmanship. The event emphasized a VIP experience, offering personalized services such as private appointments, exclusive lounge access, and concierge services to cater to the needs of discerning buyers. Luxury by JCK included trend presentations and fashion shows that highlighted upcoming styles and innovations in high jewelry. This year, Friday’s topics focused on content, Saturday’s highlighted data, and Sunday’s showed the how-to’s of bringing it all into practice. The Summit featured a panel moderated by Dennis Campbell, Professor of Business Administration at Harvard with panelists and speakers throughout including Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability and Internation Affairs Officer at Kering, Dr. M Sanjayan, CEO, Conservation International, Iris Van Der Veken, Executive Director &amp; Secretary General, Watch &amp; Jewellery Initiative 2030, Melanie Grant, Executive Director, Responsible Jewelry Council, Glenn J. Hansen, Founder and CEO, Reduce 2, Tiffany Stevens, President, CEO and General Counsel, Jewelers Vigilance Committee, and Ann Grimmett, Vice President of Merchandising, Jared.</p>
<p>The President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana attended JCK with the House of Botswana and in a one-on-one Fireside Chat with Victoria Gomelsky, emphasized the importance of natural diamonds for Botswana’s economy. Alan Cook CEO of  De Beers announced it will suspend protection of lab-grown diamonds for jewelry purposes and that its Lightbox factory will be handed over to a subsidiary Element Six to become a “world-class CVD production hub” for industrial purposes.</p>

<h3><strong>New Tools Give Insight into Fancy Color Diamonds</strong></h3>
<p>We all know that Fancy Color Diamonds are rare, but never knew exactly <em><FONT color= #00000;">how</font></em> rare, or which factors determined rarity. The FCRF grants its exclusive members access to the “holy grail of talking points” a retailer needs during a sale of a fancy color diamond. Their <strong>Digital Rarity Report</strong> uses an algorithm that provides you with the ability to determine how many diamonds, with similar characteristics to the one in hand, enter the market over time. I was surprised by how small that number is! For example: I used the <strong>FCRF Digital Rarity Report</strong> and I discovered that a <strong>4.84 carat Vivid Blue</strong> Pear shape Internally Flawless diamond, enters the market only <strong>once every 5-6 years</strong>. I also learned that only one out of 10 million polished diamonds over one carat has those same characteristics.</p>

<p>I have learned that Fancy Color diamonds are extremely rare  even with a larger number entering the market yearly . For example, a 1 carat Fancy Intense Yellow, Pear shape, VS clarity, presents characteristics that are only seen in 1 out of 9000 polished diamonds! I was also educated about some of the famous Fancy Color diamonds mined or sold in the last two decades and learned that a diamond similar to the Oppenheimer Blue &#8211;  a 14.62 carat, Fancy Vivid Blue, Emerald cut, VVS1 clarity diamond &#8211;  enters the market once every 25 years or more!. Personally, I think this is a crucial piece of information and I’m planning to further explore the rarity of fancy color diamonds. What I have learned thus far has given me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the fancy color diamond. <h3><strong>Price Index &amp; Valuation</strong></h3>
<p>Because I see so many diamonds, many retailers ask me what the retail buying price of a specific diamond should be. With colorless diamonds that information has been accessible for everyone, but with Fancy Color Diamonds there has been no benchmark for wholesale pricing, so prices were all over the place. The FCRF has developed two very important services regarding FCDs value:</p>
<p><strong>The Fancy Color Diamond Price Index</strong> tracks the pricing behavior of Yellow, Blue and Pink Fancy Color Diamonds,  1 carat and above, from 2005 up to the present. The data is inputted constantly, and the index is updated quarterly. This gives Fancy Color Diamonds professionals &#8212; buyers, dealers, retailers, etc. &#8212; insight into the price behavior, as well as a generator of selling talking points and investment data. This is a game-changer for the Fancy Color market. Two examples of the information available are these graphs – comparing the price behavior of the category of blue, pink, and yellow diamonds, and comparing 5 carats Fancy Yellow and 5 carats Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds, starting at 2005!</p>
